A rivclip is a metal clip that connects insulator strings to reduce radio and television interference. It’s also known as a clevis-joint connection. Each unit contains 100 pieces.
A rivclip is a metal clip that connects insulator strings to reduce radio and television interference. It’s also known as a clevis-joint connection.
Clevis connections, especially if working under light mechanical load, can develop oxide films on their bearing surfaces.
If these films are not fractured by weight and movement, they are subject to puncture by line voltage whose small discharges can create Radio Interference Voltage (RIV).
By establishing a shunt around the clevis joint, by means of RIVclips, the condition is easily remedied.
Our clips are made with spring special wire with ends cut flat and sharp to give good point contact.
They are held securely by snapping around the clevis pin. The gallery image shows how to insert the clip.
Tests carried out in the High VoltageAny voltage exceeding 1000 V a.c. or 1500 V d.c. More Test Laboratory at the University of Canterbury showed
The measurements taken were in decibels and these were converted to the voltage figures above.
An approximate decrease of 20 dB was observed and this relates to a voltage decrease of approximately 10 times and a noise reduction of 96 times.
An appreciable decrease in radio interference level took place once the RIVclips were inserted.
